What I'd truly like to see is a port of Linux or NetBSD to every Mac
platform (most already exist) that is integrated with a non-X graphical
open-source environment that behaves exactly like the last MacOS
released/supported on the platform....complete with a MOL type emulator
to seamlessly run apps...
I think there'd be nothing cooler than a Mac SE 30 that boots a stable
vm/preemp multi-tasking OS underneath but looks just like System 7.5.5
or 6.0.8 (take your pick).... I think Wargo would like something like
that.

It'd be even cooler if the ROM's were reverse-engineered so that:

A. Booting goes straight from the happy mac into the new OS

B. The toolbox could be used by the graphical environment. (I'd
finally start collecting Macs of ALL types again...and have a use and
reason to run them.... well NOT All types... no Road Apples
