[rescue] Apple II

Several people have commented on my poor choice of Apple II models,
namely an Apple IIc.

I think it's important to keep in mind that I don't have a choice. I live
in Israel. Apples of any sort were never very popular here, people pay
twice the U.S. price for a new one and expect 70% of what they paid
for an old one.

Someone offered me a used G3 laptop for twice than it would of cost to
buy it off of Ebay (from a well known seller) BIN, + air freight and
insurance + VAT (Value Added Tax at 18%). As I like the guy (he helped
me out with my A/UX project), I offered him the total from above for
it.

He was nice about it, but he had bought it for resale and had paid more
than I was offering him.

As for the Apple II's, they are very rare items and while no one wants
any money for them, they are few and far between. So far I've only been
offered two different Apple IIc's, one of which was gone before I
responded.

At the time Apple IIs were popular the import duty on a computer went
from 150% to 100%, so in a country where the average monthly wage has
been about $1000 for the last 20 years or so, no one could afford one
for home.

If you have any of the component parts, such as a Mac LC or Apple IIe,
5 1/4 or 3 1/2 floppy drives, the Mac LC Apple IIe card with floppy cable,
An Apple talk card for an Apple IIe, or software, etc and would like to
donate them to my insanity, please contact Sammy Ominksy. He'll make sure
that I get them.

Thanks,

Geoff.

Carp are bottom feeders, koi are too, and not surprisingly are ferrets.
