Yes, but in this case it is a nearly completely useless thing to remember
at all without knowing what the compilers used were.  Or, at the very
least, what version of GCC was used.  Generally GCC output is getting
faster, and at some points along the way, the improvements have been
quite dramatic, or so I'm told be people better at analyzing the code
than me.
