No.
Boot the 6.5.3 Installation CD and load the Foundation CDs from 6.5, and
Applications CD from 6.5.3 update set, along with the rest of the 6.5.3
update set.

Yes, if you have the Applications CD with the same date as the 6.5.3
set.
IRIX 6.5.3. That's like... February 1999.
