I used to live in Denver and still have friends in high tech there.

The place is hurting, bad.  Denver is a branch-office town, not an
HQ-town.  Maxtor and other storage folks are cutting back; HP is
cutting back; Qwest/USWorst is cutting back.

It is so bad that one friend is doing certain things for free that
look good on his resume.  Stuff like oversee a videomercial for a
company he has consulted for in the past.

Best thing to do though is get out there for a few days, or use the
yellow pages online and call some companies that look interesting to
gauge what is happening.
