[rescue] let's revisit the whole FC-AL thing

ok, so in the process of trying to think up storage for the Onyx, i started
looking at FC-AL again. i guess the first question is if there is an FC-AL
board i can put in the Onyx or not.

but what really torques me the wrong way is the cost of enclosures. and not
even the enclosuers themselves, but rather the adapters that they use.

i'm looking at sc40.homelinux.net and i can't help but to wonder what makes
the Tcards cost $60. it's a 40pin SCA connector, a power connector and a
little piece of PCB. there are no other componants on this thing that i
can see. so basically this thing is hooking power to the right pins on the
drive and the pins for the FC-AL loop.

how hard would it be to build these? not possibly that hard. anyone care
to comment?

thanks!

-brian
