i know, i know, replying to myself and all, however!!

this isn't really what i meant to say.  i've gotten a surprisingly little
amount of sleep over the last serveral days, my brain is blown.

a console is something that should be OS independant.  you need to talk to the
hardware, not the OS.  a GUI console is something that is always going to be
something that requires an OS to support, to build something like that into
OpenBoot would be nuts.
