i managed to straighten the pin on a sbus TGX card that i had bent doing
something very similar to that. Damn near the same story, bent the pin,
didn't realize it, inserted the card, pin got bent in two places
straighed one bend in it so it stood up, but still didn't work.  managed
to straighten the bend in the middle of the pin, and it works now.  i
don't know what the pins are like in a UPA connector, but i got the pin
on the sbus card straighened using small screwdrivers (1-2 mm wide ones
from my "precision screwdriver set") and a mechanical pencil.  It
probably took me about a half hour to get it straight, and i'm sure i
weakened the pin, making it more likely to break in the future, but,
hey, it works now.
