Bugger.  I can't believe I said that!  

Obviously the sbus order has little to do with the boot device, unless
of course you're trying to boot from a disk attached to a second host
adapter....


The variable I was thinking of is of course 'sd-targets':

ok printenv
Parameter Name        Value                          Default Value

....
sd-targets            31204567                       31204567
....

However it's only present in older OpenPROMs (eg. the 1.1 version in my
SS1 and SS1+)

My ss2 does indeed have "boot-device=disk1"....
