I found that Forte produced binaries 2x as big as gcc (and yes, I stripped
them), but with nowhere near 2x the speed increase. 8-)

Unless something *has* to be 64-bit (ipfilter, for example), I'll use
GCC 2.95.3.  GCC 3.x isnt ready for prime-time yet, IMHO.
