Sounds like a guy I bought a tape drive from for $35. At the time, $35 was
a lot to me (that's about two tanks of gas -- it still kinda is a lot to
me); I asked him before I got the money out if the drive worked, he said
yeah... As soon as he had my money he starts telling me about warranty
information; the company will repair it, etc., etc. Get it home, it's dead
as a doornail.

Took all of the self-control I had to keep me from showing up and taking
out his leg with an aluminum baseball bat.
