Bus is really not relevant to this discussion, because the TV card for
the 5x00 PowerMacs plugs into it's own proprietary little socket, and
AFAIK there is nothing else that does.  It is indeed some sort of video
overlay, and infact, screen shots of playing video show a transparent
square instead of the video that was playing.  

I don't remember what models the option fits in, but on the 5x00
machines there is a set of card guides under the system board, and the
cable is already in the case to plug it in.  The card does not
physically connect to the system board
