[rescue] Using ribbon aui cable to transceiver on Sun VME cpus?

Anyone know if a 2 foot ribbon cable will do for a twisted pair aui cable
to connect a thinnet - aui transceiver to old Sun VME cpus?  I have had
folks tell me that a ribbon cable will do fine (VAX folks on VAX hardware),
so I was wondering if that would do for the old Sun VME critters, too?
