Thanks - the LPX cases are actually common in low-end Dell, Gateway, and
other P75-100 systems, esp. the low-profile desktop cases.

I guess what you are saying about the UPS is that *all* power comes *after*
the battery, not before - so it would make sense that *bad* batteries would
manifest such symptopms. I'll take a multimeter to the various points after
the 120V - 12V transformer and see if there is any life inside the box...
