Hmm, for me it's

1) get up and log in under my user id. (email client being autoloaded)
2) go get my (automagically brewed) coffe 
3) have a smoke 
4) read email.

Now, I just recently got DSL rather than a modem connection. So much of
this is habit born of having to wait for many mailing list digests to
download over a 56k modem. Some mornings this could take a while. OTOH,
this morning took less time than for me to even get my lazy butt up out
of my nice leather chair. 

If my wife ever really gets into email, then I may have a real
problem... ;'P

Bill, I hope the two of you are even half as happy as Mary and I are: if
you are, the two of you will do really well. May whatever you prefer

saints feast for ever in your heavenly home; through Jesus 
Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and
