Damn, that makes me wish I hadn't gotten rid of my alpha. I had a very nice
little alphastation with the 3Dlabs graphics setup that I got from a
previous employer who didnt know what to do with it.
600 or so mhz CPU, 512 megs of RAM, 2x18 U2-F/W, and the multi-boot prom.
I was just running Linux on it and ended up giving it to a friend (I figure
I got it for free, he might as well) who wanted to try a BSD port.
Hmmmm.... Ebay... Ebay might be the solution here, though it is rare I see a
good Alpha for sale there

VMS is great. I just wish I hadnt forgotten most of what I knew. 8-(
My first exposure to the Internet was through VMS 5.5-2, using a PC
running a VT102 emulator over LAT to a VAX 4700A. That was also the
first web server I ever setup, and its still up -
http://mercur.usao.edu (altho now it just redirects to the web server
they've got up on a Sun). It was the first web server ever running
at USAO.edu, back in '95. 8-)

You can get VMS for free (well, $30 media charge). Latest version,
all layered products, etc. For both VAX and alpha.
