That's true, I tend to forget about firewire. Not that there are finally
some good firewire peripherals avialable at a relativley decent price, that
may be a viable expansion alternative.

It's certainly making a huge splash in the Mac market, it would be nice to
see the same thing happen with the UNIX market, that way we can finally get
some of the same goodies as other "normal" computer users.

Referring to Bills post about PCI cards, the same company that makes my PCI
usb card also makes a combo card with 2 usb ports on a full speed root hub,
and two firewire ports, all in one short 32 bit pci card...

Interesting possibilities if it could work. I'd have a U10 with Serial,
paralell, SCSI, IDE, USB, and IEEE1394 (firewire), plus the USB, serial, and
paralell ports on the SunPCI-II, and of course the two 10/100 ethernet ports
and the mini-din keyboard port.... Man that's a lot of connectivity

May I point out two very intresting connectors on the Blade 100.. The
first is a funny squareish-with a hat connector that looks sorta like
"=>", I personally love firewire as a way to attach drives, and other
toys. They are a bit more expensive, but it's quite fast, and has most of
the bennies of SCSI without alot of the price. The second connector I
wanted to point out is the other firewire connector <grin>. Now
admittadly this dosen't solve the PCI shortage, however it solves the hd
shortage easily, and I'd even argue more.
