Hi Eric,

Thanks for taking the time to help out a newbie.  I tried everyone's 
suggestions, to no avail, then contacted my Sun rep and got a 30 day 
trial license for the Forte package.  Worked like a charm!  In any 
case, I do appreciate your suggestions, which will clear up some 
other problems when  I revert to gcc when the license is up.
