[rescue] clustered file storage

So, I was reading yet again about a monster storage cluster solution, and
I start to wonder, are these mostrous NFS clusters, and big boxes like
Auspex, are they just regular old file servers, or do people these day
runs databases on them, like, a SS1000 runs oracle and stores the oracle
data on an Auspex or NetApp.  Or, is there just a lot of demand for nearly
terabyte file servers?
