OK a 3 for 1 answer here:

Answer # 1 for William:

William: I have a dec VRC-16 color monitor for my Vaxstation which I understand
is a sync on green. I also understand that the SGI Indy I recently got my mits
on needs a sync on green monitor. Hence with a 13w3 to 3(?) bnc I might be
able to get it to work with the SGI. Anyone here done this or know of a reason
why it won't work?

The DEC monitor is SOG and may work with the Indy. It is also a multiscan,
multi-frequency tube. What may be the killer is that the Indy may put out a
higher res and frequency than the DEC can handle. By the data I was able to
find the DEC supports 1280 x 1024 and H Freq/ V Freq: 30-78 Khz / 50-90 Hz

Answer # 2 for Joshua:

Joshua: Oh really!?! I have a 712/80. People(I think Mike N was one of them)
that they have gotten these machines to work with Gateway Vivitron 1572
monitors (generally my second or third favorite 15" monitors, after Sonys and
SGI. All three use Sony screens AFAIK), but I haven't been able to get it to
work with mine. Is this monitor a SOG monitor, or did people tell me wrong?

Most of the HP workstations of a more recent vintage are capable of being set
to a wide choice of settings. I have indeed had a Gateway 1572 (Sony) connected
with good results to the 712. You can even run a VGA tube on the 712/715(even
series) B, C, J etc.

What tube can you not get to work with what machine? You do not make that clear.

this is correct. See above comments.

Did not seem to like it how? The old Sun CD-ROM's that take a caddy for
whatever reason will not boot an HP even though they are the right thing for a
Sun.
