last i checked the PS modules from sun were about 800 USD....

I run -48vdc at home and work. home and lab/work areas I have some
little rockwell rackmount inverters going to telect distribution panels,
much cheaper than doing an AC conversion for home.

the avg pull, iirc, is 4amps on the 'lead' supply and .5 - 1amp on the
other PSes. the 1400's have three PSes with dual connects to each.
IIRC, a fully loaded (all four drives, they'll pull the most juice) it
was 4-5amps on one of the circuits the others were piddly amounts.

docs.sun.com would have their 'official' measurements. i have it in a
local db at work, if i weren't lazy i'd pull the info heh

side trivia.. -48dc came about from the navy and submarines.. google and
i'm sure you'll find all you want to know,a nd then some
