i gave up on IDE shortly after my 90M drive i had in my first (and last) PC (a
386) blew up.  paid an arm and a leg for an adaptec 1542B and a 270MB quantum
ProDrive LPS.  haven't looked back since.

haven't purchased another PC since either though, sooooo (my next computer was
a sparc5)
