Dig around HP's web site. I don't think they have complete manuals, but
there is
a lot of information on their site.

For printers that have seen a lot of use, the rubber rollers degrade.
The printer
will start to feed a page, but it won't go anywhere. The roller can't
grab the
paper and the printer detects this. I know on the HP 4si, they
recommend
installing a maintenance kit every 200,000 pages. This is a fuser and
roller
replacement.

Most (all?) of the HP 4/5 printers use 72 pin FPM simms. Sometimes they
are picky
about the ram. HP should have a memory compatibility chart on their web
site.

The memory should be cheap. I would max it out.
