would you not need three devices to "automagically"
rollover the failed dsl connection to the serial?

i'm thinking the dsl router, the serial router for the
dialup, but in front of those two another lightweight
router where you could assign cost to the two other
route(s), so that if one becomes un-available, then
the higher cost (serial) would come into play....
