[SunRescue] non-sun: rm380z

This probably is not the best forum for this, but most
people seem to read this list. Anybody heard of the
Research Machines 380Z ? It was (is) a Z80 based box
from about 1980. I have one of these little beasts,
and now it works. BUT I have zero software, cannot
find any anywhere, and have almost no information
about how to use it.

It's quite unusual, in having all logic (except the
CPU, RAM, ROM, etc) constructed as discrete TTL logic,
rather than using ASICS. Its also big. Uses a
separate CPU board, also with a Z80, to control it's
built-in dual 5 1/4" floppy drives :) I could have
some serious retro fun with this, but I can't find any
data on it - and i'm almost tempted to trace the
circuits, draw all the circuit diagrams, disassemble
the roms, and back-port cpm to it :)

Oh, I also suspect, those (i.e. most) in the US won't
have heard of it, as they were made in the UK,
Cambridge I think, and sold over here. Most schools
seemed to have one, but very few probably still do :(

Can anybody help? Anybody got any software/data ?
Anybody got spare parts in case mine is broke?

Cheers,

Dave.

Appologies for non-sun content.

OBligatorySUNbit: Um, they all work :) Just need to
configure my AXIL220 server box as a PPP dialout
machine, with proxyarpcaching thingy, and IP-masq, and
the whole network will be on-line. Web browsing on a
4/110 under sunos4.0/openwindows :) Sweet :)
