The NVRAM battery is likely the problem.  In diag mode it will error on
the
"nvram write test" if that is the case.

There is a way to set the memory test to an arbitrary value.  On later
roms "setenv selftest-#megs 0" at the ok prompt should do it. In old ">"
mode, setting 0x15 to 0 might work.
