It pays to become friends with the people who deliver stuff to you. 
First off, it's always nice to be friendly.  Second, they tend to be
more careful with your things, rather than doing the Ace Ventura Method
of home delivery.

They like promises of becoming more interested in smaller gear, and a
good cup of strong coffee.  I know from experience.  

When I had my NeXT shipped to me, my UPS Guy[tm] came to the door and
said this:

"Tim, I appreciate that you like old computer stuff, but please
appreciate me by helping me lift this fscking thing."

This is also the guy who ran defence against our two escape artist cats
when I carried in a box of three DEC PCs one morning, while still in my
bathrobe (a frightening sight for anyone).
