I'd have done this long ago if it'd have been feasible but the number of 
workstations in the office precisely matches the number of wall sockets. 
The printers aren't near each other either they are in 'zones' in the 
office (basically as far as anyone can be bothered to walk to pick up 
their printing).

Putting a 5-port GBit switch and a printserver on each sharing 
workstation seems excessive. Might have to do it but it still seems like 
OTT.
