No feathers ruffled here, Nadine, but to toss in my $0.02, let me just say how
important it is to understand the job market AND housing market you are
considering moving to.

I've never moved for a job, but a co-worker moved here after taking a job with
the highest paycheck she'd ever been offered. She accepted the job, gave
notice, and then came down to find a place to live. It never occurred to her
that living in central jersey could cost so much more than upstate new York
where she came from...

She stayed the school year (I work in education) and went back to her upstate
home she never sold, licked her wounds and looked for a new job in NY.

She was miserable for the entire time she was here, it hurt her performance on
the job, and probably set her career back 3-5 years (had to take a lesser job
back in NY)...

Shannon, you strike me as a 'measure AT LEAST twice before cutting' kind of
guy, so I don't think this would happen to you, but others may benefit from
the story...
