Voipsupply is a great vendor.  Among other things, it's possible to get 
a Real Human TM on the phone on short notice.

For your home phone, trixbox is probably overkill.  Buying a little box 
to talk SIP to your provider and provide POTS ports for your phones is 
way simpler:

  Supports T.38 for your fax machine.

Most providers support these linksys units because they used to be a 
common as a give-away.  (i.e. the hardware a voip provider would give 
you as part of the contract.)
