oh yes; 3.2/800 was an option, down to 2.6/400 celerons.

yeah, but it's an hp business system and i'm concerned that nothing i
can afford would be as well engineered - though i don't know if it
pre- or post-dates the great downfall.  it's at least 4 years old,
maybe 6 or more.

fwiw belarc brands the mb as hp.  for all i know, it may just be
reading the bios, which is definitely hp branded if not authored.

true.  4x1G ld cl2 pc3200 = $116 at least.  i wonder what 2x256M cl3
pc3200 is worth?
