NetBSD and OpenBSD are pretty clean, but FreeBSD isn't.

In fact, I'd say it's just about as bas as Linux, minus the extreme  
GNU zealotry.

It hasn't been truly stable since 4.x.

Starting with 5.x they abandoned reason and went on a massive feature  
bloat just like Linux did with 2.6.

Even the latest 7.x release has some serious issues.

Linux is just a kernel.

Most of what you are talking about here is the layers above it.
