or, for daemons, go to where the 'return dirlistings' part of the source is and do something like: -| when requesting dirlistings... if request contains 'show hidden files' flags, then in output, subst ls -ah with [anything not revealing dotfiles,] else output as requested, (that is; their request command wouldn't reveal hidden files anyway..)
