There's more than a whiff.  People with a historical perspective and a
knowledge of the world outside the US borders have been drawing Weimar
Republic analogies for years.

Sometimes I find it hard to decide which of Clinton or Bush actually
deserves the "Worst. President. EVAR." meme ...  granted Bush and Rove
have royally fucked us over, but so did Clinton, just in different ways.
 The Clinton Oval Office was for rent to the highest bidder.  I'm still
convinced the only reason Congress managed to avoid impeaching him for
*that* is that they knew they were as guilty as he was, and if they
impeached him on anything of substance their own corruption would come
out in public as well.
