I decided that 11x17 wasn't a necessity for my document printer, since I 
have a (much slower) dedicated large-format (read poster) printer for 
that stuff.

So I got a Lexmark C522n.  I'm quite happy with it.  It's pretty quick 
and turns on pretty fast.  The only downside I can tell with it is the 
cost of toner, but I'll deal with that problem as it happens.
