Remember that one of Apples big concerns was the need for a low power
consumption chip for laptops. IBM still hasn't addressed that issue.

It's not clear from this short article if the Power6 chip would have
the AltiVec vector accelerator on it.

I didn't believe the PowerPC chips intended for IBM's own server
consumption had AltiVec.

If that is the case, then it wouldn't be a good successor for the G5,
no matter what the clock speed was.
