I've found that this is due to RAM mor often than not.  Put 1gig of RAM in
the machine and it lightens the load considerably.

No offense Aaron but I use my G3 400 Pismo with 10.3.9 and I find it quite
usable - even with only 512M of RAM.  About the only thing that is a bit
laggy is Neoffice and that's only when it first starts.

There's no doubt that OS 9 will be much faster on that same configuration
but it all depends on what you want to do with the machine in question.
