[geeks] Vista on a test PC

Hello all,

I've installed Vista on a test PC, and it seems a bit sluggish, but not
_horrible_ - I find it similar (in spirit) to Mac OS/X interface, which is
neither a good or bad thing.

The machine is as noted below - I'd consider this a _robust_ machine, and
I'm gonna dump some application software on it and try and get some real
experience with it...

The system is:

Intel Pentium 930 (dual 3.0 GHz CPU cores, each with 2 MB cache)
Supermicro PDSGE motherboard
ATI Radeon (ASUS clone) X300 128 Meg RAM PCI-Express video
2 Gigabytes RAM
80 Gig SATA O/S HD

Everything seems to work (even the on-board SATA RAID controller) *except*
the on-board sound - I'm just about to look into that now.

Bill, was your problem *massive* slowness (in an SS/5-110 kind of way), or
in a "nat as snappy as I'd expect, but workable for some" kind of way???

Lionel
