The recent Supreme COurt decision will have interesting ramifications - Cable Companies don't need to make their network available to other providers, and it is expected that Telcos will have the same protection for their DSL service.

Ultimately, it will be a good thing for DSL and Cable data service deployment - their investment won't support their competitors efforts. Telcos today have to make their network elements available *at a discount* to their competitors, at a price set by the ruling PUC/state regulatory authority...
