I'm sorry, I think you meant to say "the graphics display system" there
instead of "storage or RAM", and you got "Octane" and "U10" reversed. 8-)

I've got a U10/440 (512M, 2M CPU cache) with Elite3D-M3 on my desk at work.
We also have this box:

sgi 1# hinv
1 195 MHZ IP30 Processor
CPU: MIPS R10000 Processor Chip Revision: 2.7
FPU: MIPS R10010 Floating Point Chip Revision: 0.0
Main memory size: 640 Mbytes
Xbow ASIC: Revision 1.2
Instruction cache size: 32 Kbytes
Data cache size: 32 Kbytes
Secondary unified instruction/data cache size: 1 Mbyte
Integral SCSI controller 0: Version QL1040B (rev. 2), single ended
Disk drive: unit 1 on SCSI controller 0
Disk drive: unit 2 on SCSI controller 0
Integral SCSI controller 1: Version QL1040B (rev. 2), single ended
Disk drive: unit 3 on SCSI controller 1
IOC3 serial port: tty1
IOC3 serial port: tty2
IOC3 parallel port: plp1
Graphics board: MXI
Graphics board: SI
Integral Fast Ethernet: ef0, version 1, pci 2
Iris Audio Processor: version RAD revision 12.0, number 1

Its graphics subsystem makes the U10 look like a 300 baud Teletype.

Anybody know if an "add-on" ethernet card exists for Octanes? This
machine is losing its on-board ethernet slowly, and I need to find a
card for it if possible.
