Just this week my mother decided to switch from Win32 back to
Mac after XP ate a folder full of data in a move process. I
was able to get the data back but she had finally had enough.
She had used Macs since 86 or so and loved them, but
complained that the job market required her to work with
Windows. She now has switch from Visual Basic to programming
web apps, with LAMP stuff mostly, so Win32 is no longer
necessary.

She is letting me put Linux on her Vaio and she is buying
dual G4 on Tuesday. I was happy to hear it.

Tell your mom that she might lose large amounts of random data
if XP gets flaky during a file move operation (this
particular move wasn't even going between two different
partitions, just folder to folder).
