[geeks] sylpheed on Solaris (redux)

If you plan on compiling and installing Sylpheed (sylpheed.good-day.net), do yourself a serious favor and go with Sylpheed-Claws (sylpheed-claws.sourceforge.net). Sylpheed-Claws is the "bleeding edge" version with some code that isn't included in the standard releases.

Bleeding-edge as it may be, it actually compiled and installed with nary a hitch. I have the entire Solaris-9 Software Companion installed, and at least the GTK stuff is a prerequisit for compiling Sylpheed-Claws. I did have to add the $sfw/bin, lib, and include directories to the PATH, as well as set LD_LIBRARY_PATH, but once that was accomplished, it compiled right up.

It currently sits on my Blade at work (yeah, I'm VPN'd in to do this - I needed this done, I refuse to use crap MUAs any more), so if you need a pre-configured tarball let me know. If I'm feeling randy I might even put together a Solaris pkg next week.
