All right, I will fess up. The real reason that I didn't try to revive the
PDP-11/70 at RICM is it it too complicated and too difficult unless you are
a DEC trained FE, have all the factory issued tools, and have lots of known
good spare boards.

The 11/70 has cache between the CPU and memory boxes. The unibus is
connected to the cache controller with a Unibus map. The RH11 Massbus disk
controllers are dual ported and are connected to both the cache controller
and the Unibus. The CPU has something line 15 HEX sized boards, the disk
controllers have something like 9 boards each and you can have four of
them, you then add a Unibus expansion chassis, boxes of core, about 20
power supplies.

It really is a big deal to get one to run. I suppose for someone who plays
with Crays all the time it might not be so hard. For the rest of us
mortals...
