I've heard the 800s from Suzuki and Kawasaki are pretty good, at least
in cruiser trim.  They don't rattle the rider too much due to some
interesting counterbalancers and offsetting you don't get in Harleys.  

I couldn't feel my hands for a couple hours after a 700 mile trip on a
Sportster.  I learned about the old
roll-o-nickles-in-the-handlebars-trick right after that.
