Hmmm, I thought the customer was always right.

After 15yrs of working in various fields of customer service, I can say
without a doubt - the customer is *always* right.  Why?  A satisfied
customer tells 3 or 4 people about their pleasurable experience - a
disastified customer tells *everyone* (like Peter just did :)

Sounds like your pool technician needs to find work in another line of
business, like DBA or Unix admin.  You know, somewhere where surly attitudes
are commonplace, and the customers are always idiots :)
