Try debian "testing".  It's what the next stable will be eventually.
Things must not break in unstable for 2 weeks before it can hit
testing.  Keeps you a good distance from the bleeding edge.  I believe
they should have 2.4 kernel packages for ultrasparc, I know they do
for x86...
