I don't write many checks.  The vast majority of my finacial transactions are
either in person or by money order.  I pay my credit card payments in person.

The last check I wrote was for my passport.  Before that it was for car repairs
because I didn't have time to get to the bank first.  Before that it was 
tuition before I got my credit card, and that was 4 months ago.  So, that is
5 checks in 4 months, and that is more than usual.
