There's no need to rot a perfectly good brain with all that C++ rubbish.
Just learn C.  If you need OO later, there's always Java or Smalltalk or
C++ if you -have- to use it.

Seriously, if you learn C++ first, you'll have a -very- difficult time
killing all those bad habits, shoudl ever want to write C code.  Bjarne
mucked about with the syntax to almost perverse[1] degrees.  I tried to
learn C++ first, and my C++isms were strangling me for years.

Now, thankfully, I've forgotten most of that crap.
