actually, the way to speed read is almost just that.  except that you want to
concentrate on one line at a time instead of a whole paragraph.  you can teach
yourself to be able to do this.  look at a word in the middle of a sentence and
see how many words on each side you can read without moving your eyes.  when you
can read a whole sentence without moving your eyes you have succesfully become
a speed reader. ;)
