[geeks] Problem caused while securing solaris

When reading an article (and following the steps) on securing solaris, I changed something (alright, many things). After a reboot (changes to the init
scripts made me want to make test rebooting right away even though not
strickly required), I periodically get messages on the console:
Apr 26 01:05:32 exile server[229]: svc_tp_create: Could not register prog 300598 vers 1 on tcp
Apr 26 01:05:32 exile server[229]: svc_tp_create: Could not register prog 300598 vers 1 on ticlts
Apr 26 01:05:32 exile server[229]: svc_tp_create: Could not register prog 300598 vers 1 on ticotsord
Apr 26 01:05:32 exile server[229]: svc_tp_create: Could not register prog 300598 vers 1 on ticots
Apr 26 01:05:32 exile server[229]: unable to create (DMI2_SERVER, DMI2_SERVER_VERSION) for netpath.

This is a Solaris 8 machine. I've been unable to determin which part of the
changes caused this. I suspect something in /etc/rc?.d causes this, since
I got a similar message relating to snmp before I removed that.

Also, what do I have to do to make /etc/rc3.d/S50apache work with the apache
I installed in /usr/local. Or, should I just uninstall that, and reinstall
it in /usr.
